Setting Up Salesforce Payment Processing

  • February 9, 2021February 9, 2021
  • by Chargent Payments for Salesforce

If you’re already using Salesforce as your CRM and are looking to add payment processing, you’re in luck! Chargent is an app that works directly in Salesforce to process payments in several different ways.

This will be helpful when you want to send someone an email with a “pay now” button.

When you want to process credit card payments.

When you need to collect recurring payments for your subscription business.

If you want to offer self-service payments through your Salesforce Communities.

Other examples could be collecting installment payments for your project based business, or collecting weekly payments for your cleaning business.

Get Paid Faster

Why should you process payments in Salesforce? Combining payments into your Salesforce data streamlines your workflow to bring in payments easier and faster. It also lowers the number of total systems that your business has to deal with. When you process payments in Salesforce, your team has access to customer and payment data in one system, making data-based decisions easier. This can be very challenging to do in other models.

Your Payment Options

Before beginning, you most likely know that the technical definition of payment processing is to move money from one bank account to another. Usually this is a digital payment from the consumer’s bank account to the business’s bank account. Chargent offers multiple options that will enable your staff, your partners and your customers to interact with payment information inside of Salesforce so that payment can be collected.

Before We Begin

In order to collect payments in Salesforce, you will need to have a merchant account. You can use your current merchant account if you already have one. If you don’t, our team at Chargent can help you get one.

You’ll also need a payment gateway to front end that merchant account. There are multiple entities involved in making this happen, while maintaining PCI compliance, but it doesn’t have to be complicated. If you do have a problem, we can help you straighten it out.

Setting up Payment Processing

Here are the steps for processing Salesforce payments:

  1. Ensure you’ve got credentials to log into your test gateway.
  2. Install Chargent into your Salesforce org.
  3. Use the Chargent gateway setup wizard to set up that gateway inside of Salesforce.
  4. Use the Chargent payment request setup wizard to get payment requests ready.
  5. Test all of this by running some test transactions.
  6. Customize to meet your processes.
  7. Train your staff on your new system.
